Tillandsia ‘Mystic Trumpet’ is a hybrid of the red flowered T. albertiana and the white flowered T. xiphioides. When in bloom it produces a gorgeous pink flower. I painted the plant when it was not flowering as I wanted to focus on its beautiful silvery-green foliage.

It is the first air plant I have painted in this level of detail, but I really enjoyed the challenge. It was tricky capturing the silvery-grey neutral shades and the dusty, velvety texture of the leaves.
