Probably one of the most popular Alocasia species to be kept as a houseplant, Alocasia ‘Polly’ is also known as Alocasia amazonica. It has thick, glossy leaves that look like they are made of patent leather. The leaf is a deep green colour with dark red on its underside.

Painting this leaf to convey the shiny texture and the reflections was very challenging, but probably less challenging than trying to keep one of these divas happy in real life!
